Happy New Year, everyone! This year is setting up to be an incredibly exciting 2010 for the Robby Albarado Foundation. But before we look ahead to this year, I want to reflect back on 2009 and the differences in lives the Foundation made.

Thanks to the gracious support of so many of you, the Foundation was able to support two incredibly worthy causes:

1.) We helped fund a children’s park near Churchill Downs in honor of Ceasar Ivan Cano, a young buy tragically killed nearly three years ago near the track. Through your support, the park will serve as a safe haven for young children to play and to simply be kids. Swing sets, slides and playground equipment will also provide a healthy outlet for all their energy.

2.) The Foundation also contributed to Father Maloney’s Boys’ Haven here in Louisville. Boys Haven works to shelter, heal and teach young people to become productive citizens in their times of need. Particularly, we supported the Boys’ Haven Equine Program, where they’re taught that responsibility, pride and hard work do pay off! It’s an awesome program and we’re proud to be a part of it!

I’d also like to thank three retiring Board Members: Gary Demling, Rob Mooney and Cynthia Padgett. Gary was a main key in establishing this Foundation 2.5 years ago when all we had was a vision. Gary brought that vision into focus and, without him, this Foundation would not be. His tireless efforts were incredible. Rob Mooney was a key Board Member in establishing the Foundation’s relationship with Bearno’s pizza — and the incredible money they’ve raised to support the Foundation. Cynthia also contributed much of her time and talents to the Foundation, and her passion to make a difference really supported the Foundation well. Thank you Gary, Rob and Cynthia.

Looking ahead, we’re moving quickly towards the Foundation’s Cocktail Party & Silent and Live Auction, as well as the Foundation’s Golf Classic. The Cocktail party is set for April 25, 2010 — and the Golf Classic is teeing off April 26, 2010. Keep checking the website at www.robbyalbaradofoundation.org for more details as they’re completed.

Thanks again to each of you who are helping the Foundation make a difference in lives all around the community. Without your support, our Foundation could not continue its mission. So I thank you very much!

Till next time!

Summer is here and I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer season. The Foundation has been busy as we continue to find ways to improve our organization and — most importantly — improve the lives of those less fortunate in the Louisville, Ky., area.

The Foundation recently made a donation to help complete a children’s park near Churchill Downs. The park will celebrate the life of a young boy, Ivan Cano, who was tragically killed back in 2007 near the area. The Foundation is proud to partner with Louisville Metro Parks to make the park a reality. Our president, Gary Demling, has worked tirelessly to make these dreams a reality — a ton of credit goes to Gary. You can read the story about it from the Louisville Courier-Journal here: http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2009907070339

Keep an eye on our website as we continue to raise funds and look for ways to change lives in the Louisville area. This Foundation will do a lot of good, but only through the contributions of talent and money from some very dedicated individuals and companies. Thanks to everyone for making the Foundation’s mission a reality!

I don’t think there’s a better week than this week. We kicked things off Sunday night with the Robby Albarado Foundation cocktail party and auction. We had a great turnout and it was good to see so many familiar faces and friends. We’re tallying what was raised, but we’re almost certain we topped last year’s party. We’ll be adding pictures to the website in the next week or so. I really want to thank everyone who was a part of it as this Foundation is about ALL of us who are making a difference in this community.

This past Monday, we held the Foundation’s second annual golf classic. A beautiful day blessed our golfers and celebrities. Again, many people made this golf classic another special event! The money raised from the golf classic will support many needy people in the Louisville area — and we could not do it without the support of our friends.

And this Saturday is the crowning jewel, the Kentucky Derby. I’ll be aboard Flying Private considered an early long-shot, but I really like this horse. Tough draw on the outside, but he comes from great bloodlines and D. Wayne Lukas certianly knows how to get a horse ready for Derby. It should be another great Derby and I just hope everyone has a safe trip and no jocks or horses get hurt.

Finally, from everyone in our Foundation, thank you for helping us make a difference! It’s amazing what you can achieve when you dream big!

Hey Everyone! We’re so excited to launch our newly-designed Robby Albarado Foundation website. Keep coming back to this site for updates on the Foundation and what we’ve got going on! There are a lot of great things happening as we’re trying to make a difference in the Louisville area!

Cocktail Party: Next Sunday, April 26th, is our Foundation’s Cocktail Party and Silent and Live Auction at the Mellwood Arts and Entertainment Center. It’ll run from 7:30 - midnight. Some incredible partners and friends of mine have jumped in to help us with the party: Brown-Forman, Budweiser, Pepsi and Cafe Lulu. Click on our “Contact” page if you want more information and would like to be there. Your $50 ticket price includes everything! It promises to be a blast!

Volunteer Program: Gary Demling, our president, created an awesome program where you can win a free spot in the Foundation’s golf tournament. Volunteer for one hour at one of four charities (Wayside Christian Mission, St. John Center for the Homeless, Boys Haven, or the Society of St. Vincent dePaul) and your name will be entered in the drawing for a free spot in our golf tournament. We’ll draw the winning name at the Derby Festival Hole-in-One Challenge at the Water Tower on April 21st. So hurry! Help a great cause and get a chance to play in the Golf Tournament!

We’re coming up on some pretty crazy weeks leading up to the Derby. I hope everyone enjoys this time of the year! Talk to you soon!

Robby
