Robby Jude Albarado was born September 11, 1973 in Lafayette, La., to the late Robert "Bobby" Albarado and Judy Landry Albarado. Robby began racing horses at the early age of 12 on the bush tracks in Louisiana.

Robby turned professional at the age of 16 and was voted "Best Apprentice Jockey" at the age of 17. From his first victory aboard “One Little Point,” through his victories aboard North America’s all-time richest horse, Curlin, Robby has never forgotten the opportunities he was given during his early, humble beginnings.
Some of Robby’s career highlights include:- 2009: Captured 4,000th career victory
- 2009: Won Breeder's Cup Juvenile Filly's
Turf aboard Tapitsfly.
- 2009: Won Keeneland Fall Meet riding
title for second consecutive year, and
fourth overall.
- 2009: Captured 3rd straight Stephen
Foster Handicap
- 2008: Captured Dubai World Cup aboard
Horse of the year, Curlin.
- 2007: Won Breeder’s Cup Classic atop
Curlin.
- 2007: Jockeyed Curlin to 1st Place
Preakness finish.
- 2003: Regular jockey for Horse of the
Year, Mineshaft
- 1993: Recorded first stakes win aboard
Tuck’s Honey BearRobby currently lives in Louisville, Ky., with his wife, Kimber, sons Kaden and Kash, and daughter, Larkin. As an ambassador to the sport as well as the community, he maintains the compassion and desire to give back and assist others through the Robby Albarado Foundation.
